While he was in Bethany, reclining at the table in the home of Simon the Leper, a woman came with an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume, made of pure nard. She broke the jar and poured the perfume on His head. (Mark 14v3)
This perfume was worth a year’s wages.
A lot of money in anyone’s book.
Make sure that what you give to Him is of value and not the scraps.
He doesn’t deserve the left overs.
Give Him the devotion of your heart.
Nothing less than that is acceptable to the king of kings.
Nard came from the Himalayas and that was no small journey.
Alabaster was also an expensive material.
So when your sacrifice cost you something it smells beautiful to Him.
What do you give to Him that is of value to you?
Do you give Him the minimum or are you extravagant?
Decide to give Him something that is of value to you.
It may be significant amount of time.
It may be money.
It may be blessing a particular person.
Find out from Him what would please His heart.
Then simply go and do it.
Give Him the affection of your heart.
He has already given you His.
