Now the Passover and the Festival of Unleavened Bread were only two days away, and the chief priests and the teachers of the law were scheming to arrest Jesus secretly and kill him.
(Mark 14v1 NIV)
We may not be in the business of killing people for their religious beliefs.
But we are ready to kill an idea if it doesn’t fit in with our own.
We regularly assassinate our brothers and sisters in words, in thought and in our actions or lack of them.
Especially if we don’t agree with them or they don’t agree with us.
We use words to criticise and tear down claiming that we are pursuing truth.
When we do that we are missing the very essence of who Jesus is.
He is pure, unconditional love.
You may not agree with everyone but it is not your place to criticise them.
If they are your brother or sister in Christ then you have the same Heavenly Father.
He is going to ask you some very uncomfortable questions one day.
Remember you are going to spend eternity together with your brothers and sisters so start getting along now.
Love is more important than the need to be right.
No matter how good your doctrine is love beats it.
No matter how right you think you are love trumps it.
The solution is to pray out of a genuine and sincere love for them.
Bless them not criticise them.
If you haven’t anything good to say about someone don’t say anything.
If someone rubs you up the wrong way, annoys you or irritates you find out more about them.
Have a coffee with them and chat.
You will find out things about them that will completely change your opinion and attitude towards them.
He wants you to see the gold in others.
He wants you to see them how He does.
